PM2Q6 is an XTensions module that imports Adobe PageMaker files into a QuarkXPress v6.x document easily and efficiently; PageMaker to Quark. PM2Q6 now supports conversion of PageMaker files to QuarkXPress v6.x. Following are some of the new features: Preservation of PageMaker Layers, User control of runaround settings, Runaround text path can be set to clipping path and Pantone Hexachrome support. In addition, PM2Q6 displays QuarkXPress v6.0s missing font dialog enabling replacement of fonts.

QuarkXPress is a popular electronic publishing software application. Many service bureaus and printers prefer to work with QuarkXPress formatted digital files due to their workflow considerations.

The newest release of PM2Q lets QuarkXPress users who still receive PageMaker files save time by easily importing legacy documents into QuarkXPress 6.x, said Brett Mueller, senior product marketing manager, Quark Inc. It also gives the tens of thousands of PageMaker users migrating to QuarkXPress the ability to re-use data from older applications.

Conversion is not perfect due to the manufacturers of Desktop Publishing applications have their own, unique methods of text rendering. Therefore, text flow will not be 100%. Depending on the use of custom kerning, tracking, leading, etc., more or less rework may be required, but some rework will always be required.
