This is a cool stop motion animation, following-up on the FlightCheck vs Stickman video we did earlier: Animate. This is a stop-motion animation that was made by an intern at Markzware’s European office in The Netherlands (Europe). His name is Chris Starrenburg and he is from the Grafisch lyceum in Rotterdam where he is learning to become a graphic designer or as they say in Dutch, een grafisch vormgever. There were countless hours of drawing, cutting and pasting the interfaces of page-layout application Adobe InDesign, the Google search page, FireFox web browser on a Mac, QuarkXPress, the Mac OS X and last but not least, the YouTube interface where you see an instructional video demonstration of Q2ID v4 (QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign) plug-in embedded within the artwork, Adobe Flash and the resulting movie. The movie had to focus on the Q2IND, I mean Q2ID of course, Adobe Plugin. The Diet Coke or Coca-Cola Light spilling at the end was done with pleasure by Chris after weeks of planning, filming and taking still photographs! This video demonstrates some of the creativity that can be achieved with a free trial Q2ID trial of version Q2ID v3 ( formerly Q2ID v2 ), eh I mean Q2ID v4 trial. Q2ID for Mac trial download is available, as well as the Q2ID for win download trial version (which is the Q2ID trial for pc download).  Created on a Mac with a digital video camera. FROM QUARK TO INDESIGN IN A SNAP

The main focus of Q2ID v4 is to support InDesign CS4 and QuarkXPress 8 files. One important thing that’s changed in this version is the updated conversion notes PDF, which now lists most of the conversion issues you might encounter. Another change is that you can use either the InDesign Open menu or the new Markzware menu. Quark files with multiple layouts can be converted individually or all at once; multiple Quark files can be converted, too.

This version appears to fix most of the issues I noted in the last version, including keeping the proper based-on settings, better translations of Quark’s transparency effects into InDesign (with one major exception noted below), and better layer translation between programs.  Read more... Dazu benötigen Sie das aktuelle Plugin Q2ID von Markzware. Q2ID ist ein unverzichtbarer Baustein in den Arbeitsabläufen vieler InDesign-Anwender. Besonders geschätzt werden seine Qualität und sein Preis. Die Tatsache, dass die InDesignSecrets-Gemeinschaft Q2ID als ‘bestes kommerzielles Plug-in’ gewählt hat, ist ein schlagender Beweis dafür.

Die Installation is denkbar einfach. Ich zeige diese am Beispiel von InDesign CS4.
Unzippen Sie die Datei Q2ID_update_mac_4.zip.
Öffnen Sie den Ordner CS4
Schieben Sie die Datei Q2IDv4_CS4.InDesignPlugin in den Adobe Indesign CS4 “PluginFolder”.
Starten Sie Indesign neu und geben den Aktivierungscode für das Plugin ein.

Gloria & Rob Reed stopped by the Markzware booth while attending the MoGo Media Event launch of Adobe CS4. Both were interested in finding out more about Q2ID and what how it could help with Quark and Adobe CS legacy files and converting over from QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign.

In a post late yesterday, we saw that Markzware Q2ID v4 (QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign document conversion plugin) is now shipping! This is for Mac only at this time and the Windows version will follow very soon. We just had to get this out, for many have been either wanting to upgrade or buy new copies.

The new Q2ID plugin CS4 offers the same great one-click conversion within InDesign for all versions of QuarkXPress and now includes version 8 .QXP projects as well. Furthermore, Markzware’s Q2ID plug-in for CS4 will now run within the relatively new Adobe InDesign CS4 plugin. Despite all the gains and benefits of computer-to-plate (CTP) imaging and digital design, the process of creating compelling packaging designs is actually more complicated than ever. In the days of film, it didn’t matter what creative application you may have been using — Adobe Illustrator or QuarkXPress, for example — because in the end the creative work became film, which any packaging manufacturer could accept.

Then came CTP, and film stepped aside and allowed digital workflow to take center stage. No longer was film trafficked; rather, digital files became the means for exchanging packaging content. And suddenly, it became increasingly important what design application a creative director may be using, and what types of digital file formats a package printer may (or may not) accept.

There will always be loyal QuarkXPress fans, or loyal Adobe fans, who stick with their favorite creative application, no matter what the other developer may offer. But increasingly, there are greater numbers of package designers who find that it’s not a matter of choosing one application versus the other.
