FlightCheck Support for Adobe CS4 Documents
The next major version of FlightCheck which is branded
“FlightCheck XFR” will support Adobe CS4 as well as Quark 8.
Markzware began rewriting FlightCheck from scratch last year
and the effort is in progress. We had hoped to have it shipped by the
end of the year (2008), but as sometimes happens in this business, we are
behind. FlightCheck may not look complex on the outside, but inside it
is hundreds of files with millions of lines of code. It takes time to
rewrite all of that. We will release as soon as possible.
We are building FlightCheck to take advantage of the latest technology
including multi-core computers, and modern 3D graphics. We are planning
to have a full-blown postscript interpreter and an advanced PDF
engine. It is our goal to have it as color-accurate (using ICC
profiles) as possible. It is also being re-purposed to be more than
just a preflighting tool, but also a content analysis & extraction
tool for print documents and more.
We have some very interesting features in the pipeline for this
long-standing product. Please stay tuned, as you will find the new
FlightCheck XFR useful when it ships.

Will the new version that is compatible with CS4 be an update? We JUST purchased Flightcheck, but recently upgraded to CS4 and now it’s useless?

I am assuming it will also be Snow Leopard compatible? I have to say, I am shocked at how long it has taken Markzware to bring out this version. They’re the only option available in this space and over 9 months late is unacceptable. If their had been another choice, Markzware would not be seeing our money.
I hope the product is worth the wait and that the rewrite makes bringing out new versions much, much, much quicker.
